Your new CobyCard will be the single most important piece of student identification you possess for as long as you are a student here. Your non-transferable CobyCard is your official SUNY Cobleskill Picture I.D. One card is issued at registration for your entire career at SUNY Cobleskill. SUNY Cobleskill Auxiliary Services, Inc. offers a college debit account (CobyCash & Downtown Dollars) and several meal plan options. Refunds of CobyCash are available at the end of the spring semester by filling out a Refund Request Form. Inactive funds left on the cards of students no longer attending SUNY Cobleskill will be subject to an administrative fee. All unclaimed funds are subject to a scheduled administrative fee. Funds may be added at any time, and will roll over to the next semester. CAS is not liable for funds lost due to misuse of your CobyCard. CobyCards found in the possession of others will be confiscated in all circumstances. There will be a $25.00 charge to replace a lost or damaged CobyCard.
A government issued photo ID is required to receive your CobyCard.
You can use any of the following:
- Driver’s license or Non-Driver’s License
- Birth Certificate accompanied by a photo ID

How do I get my card?
To get your Staff/Faculty CobyCard, please first stop by Human Resources (located in Knapp Hall) to get a form requesting a card, then bring the form to the CobyCard Office. A card typically takes 5 to 10 minutes to make, and then you’re on your way!

Resident and Commuter meal plans are available to all students at SUNY Cobleskill. A meal plan is required for all students residing on campus.
SUNY Cobleskill Auxiliary Services, Inc. offers two college debit accounts and several meal plan options. CobyCash can be used at any on Campus Dining Facility, Coby’s, Barnes & Noble College Bookstore and vending machines. Downtown Dollars can be used anywhere CobyCash is accepted, and with our participating downtown merchants. CobyCash and Downtown Dollars will roll from the fall to spring semester.
Newly Accepted Students living on campus will be automatically billed for the Unlimited Meal Plan. All Students living on campus are required to select one of the on-campus meal plans listed below. Weekly meal plans run from Monday breakfast to Sunday dinner and are for your use only.
Commuter students may choose any of the Commuter or On-Campus (Traditional) meal plans. (Laundry fee of $55 will automatically be removed).

Unlimted Meal Plan:
With maximum flexibility and choice this plan offers unlimited access to Champlin Hall plus 10 swipes per week in any other dining location on campus, including Coby’s. This is the standard plan for all newly accepted students who are living on-campus.

Meal Plan Changes:
Students are allowed to change their meal plan during the first week of classes. All meal plan changes are done through the CobyCard Office. To change your meal plan, you can submit the meal plan change form in person or by fax.
How do I obtain my CobyCard?
Step 1: Have your photo taken
Stop by our office prior to or upon your arrival to campus or visitng during Accepted Students' Day. We will take your photo and then have your card ready for pickup when you arrive at the beginning of semester! Please note there may be considerable lineups in August and January. By having you photo taken in advance, you may save yourself considerable waiting time.
Step 2: Pick up your CobyCard
You can pick up your CobyCard in our office (or in the Bouck Ballroom on Registration Day). Please note that we do not mail the Card out to you; you must pick it up from CobyCard office personnel for security purposes. You must present a piece of government issued photo ID prior to receiving your Card.
What is a CobyCard?
The CobyCard is the SUNY Cobleskill student card, and is your personal identification while on campus. However, its features extend far beyond a simple ID – it’s your Meal card, Residence card, Laundry card, Library card, Athletic Center card, and campus debit card, all in one!
Who is eligible for a CobyCard?
All students (part time, full time and special) are eligible for a CobyCard. All faculty and staff are eligible for a CobyCard.
I need to get a new card; do I have to bring anything to get it?
You must have the following:
- student number
- Government Photo Identification (e.g. driver’s license, passport, age of eligibility card, or government work ID) and,
- be registered in the current or upcoming school term
Your first card is free. Replacement cards cost $25.00. If you meet these requirements, you may have your card made!
I just got my CobyCard, when can I start using it?
All new cards take approximately 5 minutes to be processed by our computer system; after that, your card will be fully activated.
I just got my card, how do I activate my CobyCard Debit account?
To activate your debit account, all you have to do is deposit money and your account will be ready to go!
How do I take care of my card?
Your CobyCard is durable, and built to last the entire time you’re a student here at SUNY Cobleskill. Still, a little prevention could significantly reduce the probability of requiring a new card (which costs $25.00):
- Do not tamper with the picture or information on the card.
- Do not punch a key ring hole in your card.
- Keep your CobyCard away from magnets and computers.
- Keep the card away from excessive heat.
- Do not scratch the card – if the writing is illegible, the card will not be accepted.
- Do not put the card through the washing machine.
- Do not use the card as a windshield scraper.
- Do not chew your card.
- Above all, do not lose your card, as the encoded information is yours alone.

My card doesn't seem to be working anymore, what should I do?
If you’re having problems when trying to use your card, you should contact the CobyCard Office during regular office hours, so they can help determine what’s wrong and find a solution.
If I lose my card, do I lose the money I have on it?
Not if you Deactivate Your CobyCard quickly enough before some unscrupulous person finds it. Deactivating your card protects your money on the card and prevents it from being used. Once it’s deactivated, purchase a new card from the CobyCard office and the money will be transferred to your new card.
